There's Too Many All-Stars
Posted on July 5, 2009 at 03:10 PM.
As I'm watching the All-Star selection show on TBS, I have a realization. A lot these guys should not be all-stars. I don't mean that in a derogatory way, it's just the truth. I heard that MLB was expanding the All-Star roster earlier in the week, and I didn't think much of it. But as I'm watching them go through the names of the bench players for each league, it just seemed to keep going and going. That's where the problem is, it's fine to have 13 pitchers because that's what most teams will have active on any given day, but to have 12 players on the bench? And the fans still get to vote in 2 more players this week?! Is there something wrong with that having the roster at 25 like a normal game? I mean, this game "counts" right? In this "everybody gets a trophy so no ones feelings get hurt" generation, we have to have a player from every team. Is it so wrong just to pick the 25 best ballplayers in each league and play a baseball game? A baseball game that is supposed to matter.

I understand what you mean. I also understand why they have to expand it they want a player from every team but the starters are usually 6 Redsox or Yankees

Starters usually get 2 at-bats and from there on the rest get 1 at-bat each. That usually makes it so everyone is involved.

I agree. These days the leagues are worried that the players are too sensitive and will cry if they don't get a trophy

I think it's because there's just way too much talent in the league. And also the fans that will cry if a mediocre player hitting .300 doesn't get in.

I get your point but I think its good dat dey pick from every team becuz there is always a beast player from a sorry team dat no knows about becuz da team is sorry and that way it opens a lot of people's eyes to da talent around da league.
