I'm almost entirely certain I have Bell's Palsy. The right side of my face is partially paralyzed. I can't fully blink my right eye, purse my lips straight, and the right side of my tongue can't taste. I can raise my right eyebrow with some effort, though it's tough. Very odd. Thankfully, it's only partial, which means I should be back to normal in 10 days or less.

The real annoyance is that my right eye is my good eye. My left eye is very weak (like 20/100 with glasses). I need my right eye open to get around and do anything productive, so I've got to manually blink my eye and irrigate it with eye drops occasionally.

Anyone else go through this? And tricks for keeping the eye irrigated without going insane manually blinking it and putting drops in every hour or less?

Anyone here done it as an adult? I've really wanted to for years and would like to commit myself to doing so. It's not really a necessity thing, just something I've always wanted to accomplish. I know it's real tough as an adult and I'm not putting pressure to learn it real fast or anything. Would probably learn at my own pace and then setup an immersion trip or two at some point to test it.

So has anyone done this? Suggestions? I was thinking of starting off with something like Rosetta Stone and then perhaps taking a class or getting a tutor to help out down the road.

Spanish seems to be the most logical. I already know some of the basics as I took it in high school and college. I'm also sure I'd be able to use it a lot in this country (especially the city). Had thought of Mandarin simply because it would be extremely valuable for business over the next couple decades, but it's also really hard and I'd have to dedicate an amount of time that I don't think I want to.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

I enjoyed the hell out of 08, and 10 so far sounds awesome. Not reinventing the wheel, just making some very nice improvements that will make the game easier on the user and especially Mod makers which will be incredibly beneficial.

I love the idea to pre-program events that can impact the world such as Stock Market Crashes or whatever to make mods even more immerse.

I also love the hiring guidelines, so if you do like ROH, they don't keep signing guys who can't wrestle at all.

I'm excited.

After being asked if I had this league hosted somewhere in the Aging/Dev thread on the OOTP board, I realized that more people may be interested in using this league, so here it is.

The United Baseball Association

In the early 20th century, two new baseball leagues had plans of becoming rivals to major league baseball. In 1912, the United Baseball League played for about two months before going under. The Columbia League began play the same year, but didn't become a self-described "Major League" until they changed their name to the Federal League in 1914. But after the 1915 season, owners were essentially bought-out by MLB to become owners in their league.

But what if the Untied League didn't fail? What if some Federal League owners weren't "bought out" by MLB after the 1915 season?

The United Baseball Association imagines a world where the two failed leagues join in 1912 and succeed.

Teams

There United League and the Columbia League each have eight teams. At the end of the season, the winner of each league faces off in a best-of-nine contest for the Presidents Cup.

The United League consists of the following teams:

Boston Americans
Chicago Orphans
Cleveland Green Sox
Detroit Wolverines
New York Gothams
Philadelphia Keystones
Reading Reds
Washington Grays

The Columbia League consists of the following teams:

Baltimore Terrapins
Brooklyn Tip-Tops
Buffalo Blues
Chicago Whales
Kansas City Packers
Newark Peppers
Pittsburgh Rebels
St. Louis Terriers

Each team has a logo and uniform for FaceGen. Most of the uniforms are done by NoPepper (thanks!!!), although a few may be from other sources. There is also a named stadium for each team, but no custom stadium graphics.

Each team has two minor league affiliates (AAA and AA), but no custom graphics.

Settings

This is of course now YOUR universe, so you can obviously change whatever you'd like. But this is how the game is set-up in the quick-start.

Scouting off, Coaches on

Injuries are off, because I play FOOL style

Ratings 1-10

Custom Aging/Dev Settings

Personality and Morale off

65/33/1/1 Evaluation Settings

Trades are off, but I turn them on in the off-season

No DH

League Strategy, Financial Settings, and Total Modifiers and PCM's all update each year according to real-life. Therefore, you will experience the dead ball era up through the modern era.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I hope you enjoy!

So I was in East Lansing for the night, visiting the girlfriend, and she had to go to the MSU library to finish up studying for an exam today. Being the trooper (read: whipped) I am, I went with her to keep her company and do some reading.

Now like most college libraries, there is an area that is a little more laid back as far as being quiet goes, and then there is the main area where people need to just shut the fuck up.

I should preface this with the simple fact that 95% of the people I come in contact with generally annoy me. I love my life and am happy 99% of the time, so I just not some curmudgeon who hates life.

That said, I am also not afraid to tell people who annoy me that they do in fact annoy me. I figure it's best to be honest.

Anyway, we're in the quiet part of the library and a group of girls sit down near us and just won't shut up. They are not whispering, just out and out loud to the point I can hear their conversations. I can sense people around me are annoyed based on their constant glances at them but no one will speak up.

After 15 minutes of this, they are in the middle of a conversation about something that is funny. Finally I had enough, mainly reaching my breaking point because the topic at hand was not funny. I mean christ, if you're going to be loud, at least be entertaining.

So after finally reaching my breaking point, I yell out "you know what else would be funny? if all three of you shut the fuck up"

For a moment they were silent, then one girl says what did you say? I repeat that she needs to shut the fuck up, and then decided to add that her voice is annoying (which it was, think The Nanny) and it's giving me a migraine.

So these girls get up in a huff and while some people are chuckling my girlfriend is pissed saying it was unnessecary, even though she was as mad as anyone that they wouldn't shut the fuck up.

So I am I wrong here? I mean I guess I could have been nicer but what's the point in that?

I just refuse to believe my act of chivalry should put me in the dog house.

SportsDino's Dating Bloopers and Pleas for Advice Dynasty

I tend to lead a very odd and often amusing in hindsight sort of life, and am terrible with women, so this might be an interesting tale to develop over the next few months as I'm at that point in my life where I know what I want to do, am confident my career is fine, but there is a massive gaping void when it comes to my personal life. Plus I'll hit 30 in a couple years and always felt by that point I'd be OLD!

So what I'll do is bring up various examples and hilarious stories, as well as ask difficult questions, and you, the viewing public, will be allowed to run some commentary or just plain laugh your ass off. Maybe along the way I'll learn enough to actually find someone worth marrying (sadly, I think having that as my goal is actually the sinker, since I start off more serious than most women right off the bat and scare em off).

Coming up soon, I'll catch people up to date with my current spot in life.

So I sold a TV tuner add-in card for my pc. The sale went off without a hitch. I included a pic of just the card and said it was used and gave a description of it.

When the purchaser received the card, he told me there was a cable missing. There were no cables on the card when I took it out of the system, but after researching it further, I saw there is an optional cable to connect to some front inputs. I never had a use for such a cable, but told the person I would check to see if I have it.

After scouring all of my PC stuff, I don't have a cable. I bought the card used as well, so I assume I didn't get the cable either, because I keep every cable just in case.

In my listing, I specified that returns are only if the product is dead on arrival. The card still works, but without the cable, the person can't hook up his system the way he wants (the card still works for all back panel inputs, just not front panel).

My question is, do I accept a return in this situation? I had no idea a cable was an option, but I never stated it wouldn't come without one (I also did not state if any software or manuals would come as well). The card works, so I don't personally feel its my fault the person did not ask any questions about a used product and if it included an optional component.
