This is the first FOOL Classic meeting every between these two franchises. Hammersmith however moved from Atlanta and was once in the CL where they played Baltimore on a regular basis though.
Chief Rum and Muns are no FOOL Classic strangers either however as Muns has a 2-0 Classic lead over Chief in faceoffs between Atlanta and Hartford from when Muns was the Harpooner's manager. |

Anastasio Garcia hits a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st to give the Charm an early 1-0 lead. Hammersmith ties it in the third however, but Baltimore piles on more runs in the 4th and 5th inning to take a 5-1 lead after 5 innings.
Hammersmith gets a bases loaded RBI double from Higashi in the 6th, whom then scores on the next at bat thanks to an error from the Baltimore shortstop. The Hooligans get a 5th run in the inning when Betancourt, the pitcher hits a sacrifice fly to right field to give Hammersmith a 6-5 lead. Both teams add an additional run in the 7th, but Hammersmith holds on for the come from behind win. Hammersmith 7, Baltimore 6

Wow, what are the odds. Carrasco is a terrific SS. Not only did he get a key error there, he got another one in the game.

Baltimore once again takes a 1-0 lead in the second, but Hammersmith ties it up with 1 of their own in the third. Baltimore re-takes the lead with a single run in the 4th, but the Hooligans once again come from behind with 2 more in the 6th inning for a 3-2 lead.
It starts to appear that this game will go like the last one did until the bottom of the 8th when Curt Murphy hits the eventual game winning 2-run Home Run for the Charm. Baltimore 4, Hammersmith 3

Hammersmith gets 1 run in the 1st and 2 more in each of the 5th and 6th innings.
Jason Holmes for those who are not familiar with the Hammersmith rotation, pitched in AAA this season. In fact, Holmes has only pitched in 3 major league games in his career, all three in this postseason. Thus far this postseason he is now 3-0 with a 1.61 ERA in 3 games started as once again the young 22 year old rookie goes 8 innings, striking out 7 and giving up 0 runs on a 5-hit performance. (I have no idea why the game rates him as a 1star/1star) Hammersmith 5, Baltimore 0

Curt Murphy hits an RBI single in the top of the first to give Baltimore an early 1-0 lead, but the Hooligans score 3 in the bottom of the inning on a 2-RBI triple from Roberto Chavez and a RBI single from Watanabe.
A couple of insurance runs in the middle innings help seal this one for Hammersmith. Mizutani pitches 7 innings for Hammersmith, giving up just 2 runs on 6 hits and Watanabe goes 2 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI in the win for the Hooligans. Hammersmith 6, Baltimore 2

Mizutani has done pretty decently in the postseason the past couple seasons, but that's a mismatch.

Whoops, never mind. Okay, well, that should have been a mismatch. I'll certainly take it, of course.

Roberto Chavez hits a 2-run Home run in the bottom of the 4th, part of a 3 run inning for Hammersmith to give them the lead. They tack on three more runs in the bottom of the 8th to run away with this one.
Betancourt strikes out 8 in 8.2 innings, giving up just 1 run on 9 hits for the win to improve his 2043 postseason record to 3-0. Hammersmith 6, Baltimore 1

FOOL Classic game 6:
Sanchez pitches for Hammersmith (0-1 5.93 ERA) vs Hernandez (1-1 4.24 ERA) Fairly fitting that the day after Halloween in 2043 that Hernandez is pitching, as he has been pretty "trick or treat" thus far this postseason anyways. With a stunning shutout over Tokyo only to be crushed by them in his next apperance. This time Baltimore has to have a repeat of the CLCS game 1 to keep alive. |

Well, Sanchez hasn't exactly been money either, so we'll see how this one goes. Go Hooligans!

Hammersmith scores 1 in the 4th, 2 in the 5th and another in the 6th. Meanwhile Sanchez pitches 8 innings, striking out 9 but also giving up 9 hits and 2 walks. Baltimore can not capitalize on the baserunners however and only score 2 runs off of him.
Baltimore has home runs from Garcia and Taylor, but it is not enough and they fall to Hammersmith. Hammersmith 4, Baltimore 2

Thanks! And, yeah, pretty shocked at the dominance myself. I know I have a very solid team, but none of the other squads are slouches either. I actually figured my hit and miss bullpen or issues at the backend of the rotation would sink me. I guess adding Holmes and Brown to the roster from AAA was just what I needed.

I hope I'll be back here next week. Strangely enough, wouldn't count on it, though. It's going to be very difficult to keep Hernandez or Shaw, who are about to become free agents (I do not plan on picking up Hernandez's option), and replace Griffith and Martin, who are probably past their usefulness at this point, and also make sure I get Chavez signed to an extension and re-up Watanabe. Point is, it's a big time offseason in flux coming up here for the Hooligans, and I don't have the cap space to keep everyone.

I actually agree with this statement, but we are missing a killer ace to put a stop to a nasty streak of games. Plus, that 5th spot is real shaky.
