No kidding.

I think it's a joke that Meyer only suspended him for the first half against freaking Vanderbilt. He deserved at least a one game suspension imo. Suspending Spikes for a game against Vanderbilt isn't going to hurt Florida.

I got a kick out of this whole incident because Spikes is always running his mouth and just a few months ago he said OU was a dirty team.

The bigger problem here is the SEC signing off on that being a suitable punishment. You know this had happened to a player in the SEC by an OOC opponent the entire conference would be up in arms and out for blood.

1 kid lies about something that wasnt even a violation he gets suspended for 12months.

1 kid purposely attack another kid by poking him in the eye and he gets suspended for a half.

Yeah this sounds about right!

Imagine the uproar if someone had done this to Tebow? The SEC would have suspended him 1 or more games.

and did Tebow really say something along the lines of Spikes was just doing what the other team was doing too?

Suspend nothing. That kid would have been burned at the stake in the public square.

Suspend him for a game.

Anything less looks like this.

Anything more is just overkill.

Or stoned to death like a common trollop or murderer.

I would've suspended him for the Florida State game.

Wow Mike Golic went off on this today, saying what many non-SEC fans have been saying. I also take great stock in a former NFL player saying eye gouging is NOT a common occurrence.

Yeah, that always drives me nuts when people say this stuff is common. I'm sure it's happened, but it's not common, and anyone saying that it is just seems to me like an old man saying how back in his day he had to walk four miles to school through two feet of snow. It's that sort of exaggeration to romanticize something.
