No franchise was more in need of a makeover last fall than EA's (formerly known as) March Madness series. The crescendo of the franchise's downfall came with March Madness 08, which turned out to be the equivalent of a number 16 seed after the first day of the NCAA Tournament -- routed by a vastly superior opponent and lucky to even have been invited to the big dance. Thankfully, EA listened to the criticism leveled at the March Madness series and decided to start from scratch. The result was NCAA Basketball 09. NCAA Basketball 09 corrected many of the nagging issues from the March Madness series and implemented a core experience that could be built upon in future iterations of the series. While the game was ultimately crippled by some annoying bugs (for example, playing zone against the CPU would force an ungodly amount of turnovers) and a lackluster dynasty mode, the overall game was a very solid Freshman effort by EA. 2008 marked the year that the developers at EA once again made their college basketball offering relevant.
And now with the first week of college basketball upon us, it is only natural that EA has released NCAA Basketball 10. Touting revolutionary television presentation, an all-new motion offense mechanic and yearly team and player "dynamic" updates, NCAA Basketball 10 is ready to up the tempo and try to run all other 2009 hoops competition out of the gym.
So is the game ready to ascend to the level of a UNC, UCLA and Michigan State, or is NCAA 10's bubble going to burst well before March?

If last year’s disappointing Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff was not evidence enough, NBA Unrivaled should help confirm what Tecmo fans have been angrily realizing for the last decade: The company has no idea how to update its classic sports franchises for modern consoles. In Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff there were too few updates to the dated portions of the game's old-school formula. In NBA Unrivaled the developers not only ignored the existing flaws in the source material, but also eliminated the strengths that made Tecmo NBA Basketball an 8-bit/16-bit legend.
NBA Unrivaled has been removed from its simulation roots and turned into the equivalent of a low-budget, Saturday-morning cartoon.

Easy to pick-up-and-play Wii controls and fully-featured game modes bring fans closer to the NBA® action like never before
New York, NY - November 10, 2009 - 2K Sports announced today that NBA® 2K10, the latest edition of the popular NBA 2K franchise, is now available for the WiiTM system. While offering all the same exciting gameplay features as its console counterparts, NBA 2K10 for Wii provides fans with an authentic simulation experience with deep career and franchise modes, along with the opportunity to compete online against friends. NBA 2K10, available for the first time on Wii, this season delivers the most realistic, stylistic, and feature-rich simulation experience ever available in the NBA 2K franchise.
"We're thrilled to bring NBA 2K10 to the Wii this year - it's an incredibly fun and fully-featured title that will appeal to a new group of fans," said Greg Thomas, senior vice president of sports development for 2K. "With easily accessible Wii controls and the opportunity to be active while playing, NBA 2K10 lets players step up their virtual game on the hardwood court this holiday season."
NBA 2K10 game play features include:
NBA Today:
Real world matchups, news and stats automatically stream right into the game. NBA Today keeps commentary and overlays fresh and up to date based on what is really happening in the NBA.
My Player:
Giving fans what they have long requested, the all-new My Player career mode allows fans to create their own ultimate NBA player and guide his every career move. Players start as an undrafted rookie in the Summer Circuit, and if their skills become advanced enough, they may get an invite to participate in an NBA team's training camp or play in the NBA Development League. The road to being an NBA star is long and hard, and each player has the opportunity to create their own unique experience making it to the League.
The Association:
The Association strives to be the best franchise mode in sports video games. Full incorporation of the NBA Development League and the ability to control all 30 NBA teams at once, including restricted free agency, real-time practice, an all-new player progression system, and a host of other enhancements gives NBA 2K10 players the tools to rule the court and lead their team to victory.
Crews:
Crews, a new online feature, allows dedicated online players to round up their friends and build the ultimate squad using either created players from My Player or an actual NBA team. Players can go online and challenge other Crews for bragging rights and progression points as they try to climb their way to the top of the Crew leaderboard rankings.
Signature Play:
Signature Play pulls together all of NBA 2K's player Signature Styles and adds in all-new Signature Tendencies and facial expressions, creating NBA 2K10 teams that play and react like their real life counterparts for an unbelievably realistic NBA experience. Improved easy-to-use offensive controls for dribbling and post game let players pull off ankle breaking IsoMotionTM moves and dominate from the perimeter to the paint. Gamers can shut down teams like never before with innovative defensive controls that allow you to shadow your opponent's every move, deny position off-ball, and even select different approaches to contest shots.
Developed by 2K Sports' Visual Concepts studio, NBA 2K10 is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and now available for Wii, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, and Windows PC.
