The buzzer beaters,Cinderella, one last game for all those seniors, the excitement from the announcers and One Shinning Moment March Madness is one of my favorite times of the year. It`s like Christmas for me, waiting for it to come each year. The Wednesday night before the tournament is like Christmas Eve. I can`t sleep because of the excitement of watching College Basketball all day long.

What are your plans for the tournament this weekend? Me I`m taking two personal days on Thursday and Friday to stay home and watch the tournament all day. I`ll be watching all day Saturday and Sunday .My cousin will be coming over Thursday to watch with me. I will be going to a friends to watch on Saturday. I already have enough beer for the long weekend. Just need to pick up some wings and other snacks.

I can remember back when I was in grade school and high school I would always leave sick on Thursday at 11 and not go on Friday. I was a pretty good kid and student so my Mom always allowed me to stay home and watch March Madness every year. I can still remember filling out the bracket posted in my room as the games where played, because we did not have a computer until 10th grade. Heck I still fill one as each game is played for old times. I never finish my bracket until Wednesday because I change my mind to many times.

Since 1998 I have had no team to cheer for so I have always just rooted for whoever I had in my bracket or whatever Cinderella team was playing. I love watching the Mid Majors knock off the big dogs.

I believe it was 6th grade when I actually started playing bracket challenge`s with friends. So over the last 13 years I can honestly say I have only won 2 times. My problem is I try to find a Cinderella team or two each year, which ends up killing my bracket.

How can I forget Mountain Dews March Madness promotion. They had every Division 1 team under 20 oz`s and 1 liters. I believe they did the promotion for only a few years. But for those few years I tried to get a hold of a 20 oz Mountain Dew every chance I could, just to see what team was under the cap. The funny thing is I never really was a big fan of Mountain Dew, I just wanted a chance to win a jersey or a hat. I never got the right team to get anything, although my brother had the winning team one year and ended up with a tacky looking Cincinnati jersey.

One Shining Moment is another favorite of March Madness for me. I don`t think that I could ever actually listen to the song without seeing the video CBS puts together. Up until my Senior year in high school i would always record the One Shining Moment video on a VHS. I quit doing that after my brother decided to record over my VHS. The great thing about the Internet is I can find those on You Tube now.

Now the wait, Thursday at noon can`t come fast enough (sorry the play game is just not the same). Just 41 hours and counting now so let the madness begin.

Hopefully they will have DLC although nothing has been mentioned about it for this game. So i`m not gonna get my hopes up on that.

Still pretty happy with the roster just hoping for more considering how many superstars they have put in past Smackdown games. Being able to transfer superstars over from SVR 09 will be nice, wish we were able to transfer over stars from SVR 08.

April 8, 2007 John Beilein was hired in as Michigan’s Basketball coach. Right after it was announced that Tommy Amaker was being let go, John Beilein was the guy that I was hoping would be the next coach of Michigan basketball. Luckily it turned out that he would become the next coach. My two favorite plays in basketball are the 3 pointer and the back door cut. Two things that John Beilein teams specialize in. Wherever he coached whether it Canisius, Richmond, or West Virginia he turned programs around and made them into winners.

We finished last week at 1-1. I thought we could do that but just a little different way. After losing to Maryland 75-70 last Tuesday, It didn`t look like 1-1 was going to happen. We had our chances in the Maryland game but couldn`t make the plays down the stretch.

Going into Saturday I thought we could play them close but I didn`t think we were ready to win games like this yet. Man does it feel good to be wrong. Yes I know that Duke was downright awful from behind the arc. But if you watch that game again you will see that Michigan missed numerous easy buckets around the rim. Deshawn Sims was "tremendous" with 28 and 12, Manny chipped in with 17 and Zack Novak helped out with 14 and two big 3 pointers late in the second half. It`s looking we may have found a 3rd scoring option in Novak. Let’s not forget Kelvin Grady who finished with 9 points and 4 assist and 0 turnovers in 28 minutes.

It`s nice to actually see players now developing for Michigan basketball. It seemed to me that players under Amaker never seemed to improve. You can see that here under Coach Beilein. Just look at Deshawn Sims who has grown leaps and bounds here in the last 2 years. We are even getting big minutes from Jovan Shepherd.

One player who I hope will improve as the year goes along is Zach Gibson. Hopefully he will be more aggressive on the glass, and not so passive on the offensive end.

We have four remaining non-conference games left with Eastern Michigan, Oakland, North Carolina Central and Florida Gulf Coast. Right now this team is looking at a 10-2 start heading into conference play as long as there are no meltdowns in the next 4 games. The 10 wins would match last year’s season total for wins.

3-1 and one really nice win over UCLA. I know its early and that UCLA is maybe a little over rated but they are still a Tournament and top 25 team. This program finally has something to be excited about.I thought they could start off 3-1 but they would have to beat whoever in the consolation game of the NIT.

I think we all expected improvement this year. It looks like that is being accomplished. They look much more comfortable running the offense and the 1-3-1 defense. Only if we could hit more of our open looks and finish on fast breaks.

I expected this team to be over .500 and make the NIT. I think it is reasonable that this team could finish 19-13 or 20-12. Along the way i expect a few more wins over teams like UCLA. The Big Ten is a little down this year and that should help with the record. It`s possible they could finish as high as fifth in the conference behind OSU, Purdue, Wisconsin, and MSU. All of this can happen as long as we continue to improve.

This team definately needs a third socring option behind Manny at 24.0 pts and Deshawn at 14.3 pts, the next highest scorer is Zach Gibson 6.0 Hopefully Laval Lucas-Perry will be as good as advertised. We also need the bigs to stay out of foul trouble since we are so thin up front and it does not look like Ben Cronin will be a contributor this season.

**** On a side note if anyone has nothing to do tommorow head out watch team take on Norfolk State at 8:30. If you bring two canned foods items you will recieve admission for $1.

Well last night at around 12:40 AM i fell asleep on the way home and lost control of my truck hitting a tree. I`m very blessed to have been able to walk away from the truck.

Yesterday i got up at 6 and went over to my cousins so that we could head up to Ann Arbor for the Michigan Vs Northwestern game. It was quite miserable during the game but there was no way i was missing out on the game (even if we downright stink) it rained and snowed the whole time, never stopping for a minute. The results of the game are not what i wanted, but it doesnt suprise me with the way this year has gone. One big bright spot was we got to see the basketball team scrimmage, and meet the players and coaches afterwards. By the time we left Ann Arbor it was after 5. John Beilein is very talkable and friendly with all fans.

By the time we made it back to my cousins in Marion it was around 8. We got ready to go out and see his brother and Dads band play. We stayed and watched the band play untill around midnight. I then took my cousin and his girl back to his apartment, I usually just stay at his place instead of driving back to Mansfield. Its about a 40 minute drive from Mansfield to Marion. I was tired but i just wanted to be in my own bed so i decided to head home. I figured that there were plenty of times in Iraq and i was tired but drove each mission with no problems. Well on the way home i was getting tired, i thought i was still fine but apparently not.

I just remember waking up and in the ditch, and missing a a road sign and the next thing i knew i was into a a tree. Luckily i was able to get out of the truck and walk. I went up to a house across from the tree and tried to get help, but the guy at the home would not open the door. I understand it was late and their are a lot of crazy people out there but if you saw someones vehicle into a tree and the person was bleeding on your porch wouldnt you at least open the door. Well since i didnt know if he was calling for help or not i decided to go out and find my phone thankfully it was on the drivers side floor board. Help arrived pretty quickly, while i was waiting i decided to see if i could find any of my things in the truck. I found my psp and my bookbag of clothes, and somehow i had found my poster that i had gotten the basketball team to autograph. It had gotten thrown out into the field. I think the everyone on the scene thought i was on crack for worrying about a poster and a video game system. Apparently the State Highway Patrollmen joked withy my wife that i found my PSP and Michigan poster so everything was going to be okay. lol

I was very forunate that no one was with me and smart enough to wear my seatbelt as would have more than likely been thrown from my truck. I`m still kind of in disbelief that last night was real. All i ended up with is a bunch of stiches in my arm, a sore back, and a sore hip. Very blessed considering the way the truck looks. This is the first time i have ever been to the emergency room i hear a lot of bad things about it, but everyone was nice and took good care of me. If your ever to tired to drive just pull over and wait or call and have someone pick you up, its not worth taking a chance

I use to believe that only a fool would venture out the day after Thanksgiving. Well as of last year year consider me a fool. Last year was my first experience with Black Friday. I liked the deals enough to want to to do it again. It`s almost that time again, only 17 days untill the madness begins. I`m starting to scout out the deals and make my plans on where to go.

Here a few of the websites that i have been checking for the last couple weeks, to start making my plans for black friday.
